WebJul 19, 2024 · To me the fat 50s have a more classic rock, blues, jazz tone with added balls and hair for when you you need it. Great smooth taper from low to high out put. To classic tones with the knob set back a bit to bring down the output or bring them up to get into more modern territory with a vintage flavor. WebJan 10, 2015 · Jan 19, 2014. #3. SSL-1s are more vintage voiced. I way prefer them to the Tx Specials, which are my least favorite SCs ever. Way too much mids and output. It is just a harsh experience. Badside recommended the Fat 50s. Those sound really great. Nice chime with a round sound.

Fat 50s are a vintage-style pickup and have low output. My guitar is modeled after a 1964 strat (the one seen in the movie Wayne's World), and those have 0.1 uF 50V ceramic disc capacitors.
